HOBOKEN, NJ — Wiley has announced the launch of four additional journals in its Advanced Portfolio, one of the world’s top-tier research journal series. Advanced City, Advanced Food, Advanced Microbiome and Advanced Psychology have each now begun accepting submissions, marking the latest step in what the publisher describes as a rapid and deliberate expansion of its premier collection of multidisciplinary titles. The announcement, made as a business announcement from the company’s New Jersey headquarters, confirms that researchers can now submit work to all four journals immediately.

The new titles bring the number of journals launched in the Advanced Portfolio this year to ten, and the total collection to 36 journals. The pace of expansion is notable: in February, Wiley pledged to add eight new journals to the portfolio by the end of the year, a commitment the company says it has now surpassed. “In February, Wiley pledged to expand the Advanced Portfolio significantly by adding eight new journals by the end of the year, and we have not only kept that promise but surpassed it,” said Allyn Molina, group vice president of publishing development at Wiley. “We continue to build toward our goals of launching premium options across every field of science and providing researchers with prestigious yet accessible venues for their breakthrough work.”

The Advanced Portfolio is Wiley’s premier collection of impactful, multidisciplinary journals, spanning titles across the life, health, physical and social sciences. It is anchored by the flagship interdisciplinary journal Advanced Science and the world-renowned Advanced Materials. According to the publisher, the portfolio’s distinctive editorial approach — built on close collaboration between authors and editors — has earned the trust of the scientific community for more than three decades. That editorial model, in which editors work closely with authors throughout the publication process, is described as a defining feature that the new journals are intended to carry forward into new fields.

The four new journals launching this month, the company notes, reflect the increasing diversity of the Advanced Portfolio.

Advanced City is an open access, broad-scope journal that publishes system-level research on cities as integrated, engineered and data-enabled systems. Its stated scope connects infrastructure, mobility, energy and digital systems with the governance and resilience questions shaping urban transformation. The journal is led by editor-in-chief Jiaqi Li, who received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University.

Advanced Food is an open access, interdisciplinary journal publishing research spanning food science, nutrition, biotechnology, engineering and sustainability. Its stated ambition is to advance food science that transforms how the world eats, including healthier populations, resilient food systems and innovation across the full spectrum of food and nutrition. The journal is led by editor-in-chief Lionel Zhu, who obtained his Ph.D. in Biosystems and Food Engineering from University College Dublin. Zhu brings interdisciplinary expertise in food science, biomanufacturing and novel food technologies, together with editorial experience across Wiley’s existing food science journals.

Advanced Microbiome is an open access, broad-scope journal dedicated to publishing microbiome research across hosts and habitats, from mechanism to application, with the stated aim of advancing the science of human, animal and environmental health. The journal is led by editor-in-chief Paulina Strzyz, who obtained her Ph.D. from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. She then followed her passion for cell biology and joined editorial teams at Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology and Cell Press before joining Wiley, giving the new journal an editor with substantial experience at other leading scientific publications.

Advanced Psychology is an open access, interdisciplinary journal that publishes research across the full range of psychological science, from cognition and development to the clinical, social and organizational study of how people think and behave. Its editor-in-chief is Seth Levine, who earned his Ph.D. in cognitive and brain sciences at the University of Trento in Italy, combining psychophysics, machine learning and functional neuroimaging to investigate perceptual decision making.

The publisher frames the expansion as a demonstration of its commitment to accelerate science that addresses humanity’s most pressing challenges across a wide range of disciplines, and as part of a longer-term goal of launching premium options across every field of science.

More information about the Advanced Portfolio, including the full collection of 36 journals and the new titles now accepting submissions, is available through Wiley Online Library. The announcement was distributed via EurekAlert!, which notes that neither AAAS nor EurekAlert! is responsible for the accuracy of news releases posted by contributing institutions. Submissions for Advanced City, Advanced Food, Advanced Microbiome and Advanced Psychology are now open.
