SCAI names James B. Hermiller, MD, MSCAI, President for 2024-25

LONG BEACH (May 4, 2024) James B. Hermiller, MD, MSCAI, director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and the Structural Heart Program at St. Vincent Ascension Heart Center in Indianapolis, IN, assumed the office of president of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) today during the closing ceremonies at the SCAI 2024 Scientific Sessions in Long Beach, CA.

LONG BEACH (May 4, 2024) James B. Hermiller, MD, MSCAI, director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and the Structural Heart Program at St. Vincent Ascension Heart Center in Indianapolis, IN, assumed the office of president of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) today during the closing ceremonies at the SCAI 2024 Scientific Sessions in Long Beach, CA.

 

An interventional cardiologist, researcher, and teacher, Hermiller has been an author, leading enroller, primary investigator, and steering committee member in many transcatheter therapy studies, including multiple pivotal trials of structural heart disease. Recognized as a Master Interventional Cardiologist by SCAI, Hermiller was chair or co-chair of SCAI’s Scientific Sessions from 2009 through 2013, served as chair of the Structural Heart Disease Council, co-chair of the Industry Relations Committee, and was a member of the SCAI Board of Trustees.

 

Hermiller graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his cardiology training at Duke University. He and his wife, Deb, have three children and four grandchildren.

 

“I’m thrilled to begin my tenure as the next SCAI President. This is certainly the pinnacle of my career, and I’m excited and so grateful for the opportunity to serve our members this year,” said Dr. Hermiller. “I begin my presidency at a transformational time for SCAI, for interventional cardiology, and for the cardiology field as a whole. We will ensure SCAI’s continued leadership as your partner in interventional cardiology. Our field’s future is brighter than ever. I am excited to lead the charge at this point in our history.”

 

With Dr. Hermiller, other incoming officers to SCAI’s 2024-2025 Executive Committee include President-Elect Srihari S. Naidu, MD, FSCAI; Vice President J. Dawn Abbott, MD, FSCAI; newly elected Secretary Joaquin E. Cigarroa, MD, MSCAI; and Immediate Past President S George D. Dangas, MD, PhD, MSCAI. Continuing as Treasurer is Arnold H. Seto, MD, MPA, FSCAI.

 

Joining the SCAI Board of Trustees are Allison G. Dupont, MD, FSCAI; Andrew J. Klein, MD, FSCAI; Triston B. B. J. Smith, MD, FSCAI; and Dmitriy N. Feldman, MD, FSCAI.
