xAerospace, a newly announced international English-language journal covering aeronautics and astronautics, has opened a call for Editorial Board Members and Young Editorial Board Members. The journal is the sister journal of the Chinese Journal of Aeronautics (CJA), is sponsored by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and is edited by the editorial office of CJA. Its stated focus is on original innovations and disruptive breakthroughs described as moving from 0 to 1 in the aerospace field, with plans to publish landmark reviews, original research articles and forward-looking perspectives. The first issue is expected in July 2027 and will be open access.

The journal lists its fields of interest as fluid mechanics and propulsion; solid mechanics and aircraft design; electronics and control; materials and mechanics; and closely related disciplines in aeronautics and astronautics. According to the announcement, the journal is seeking top scholars in the aerospace field with global vision and broad academic influence for its Editorial Board. Those appointed would be responsible for writing articles on frontier hot topics, commissioning and organizing landmark manuscripts, reviewing submitted manuscripts, and actively promoting the journal. The stated term of service for Editorial Board Members is five years.

A separate track is open for Young Editorial Board Members, defined in the announcement as outstanding young scholars in the aerospace field under 40 years old, with overseas experience preferred and a commitment to the journal’s development. Their listed responsibilities are to invite, review and submit manuscripts and to actively promote the journal. The stated term of service for this category is three years.

Applicants are asked to send a CV to cja@buaa.edu.cn together with a brief description of their plans for the term of service. The subject line of the email should indicate either “xAerospace Editorial Board Application” or “xAerospace Young Editorial Board Application”, depending on the track being sought. The application deadline is October 18, 2026, and successful applicants will be notified by the end of October 2026.

The announcement, issued as a business announcement by SciOpen on October 16, 2026, closes with an invitation to scholars in the aerospace field worldwide to join the journal and, in the organizers’ words, help shape the future of aerospace research. No research findings, peer-reviewed results or performance data accompany the call; it is an administrative recruitment notice for the journal’s editorial structure ahead of its planned first issue in July 2027.
