Arwa Daghrery named winner of the 2024 IADR Osteology Foundation New Investigator Award in Oral Tissue Regeneration

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Arwa Daghrery as the winner of the 2024 IADR Osteology Foundation New Investigator Award in Oral Tissue Regeneration. Daghrery, from Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 102nd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 53rd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the 48th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 13-16, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, USA.

Daghrery, from Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 102nd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 53rd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the 48th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 13-16, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, USA.

Daghrery is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences at Jazan University. Before joining Jazan University, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She received her BDS degree from King Abdulaziz University, as well as a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry, a PhD in Oral Health Sciences track of Tissue Engineering, Biofabrication, and Materials Science, and Advanced clinical training from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Daghrery received the IADR KULZER Award for young investigators to undertake research in new and innovative testing methods of dental materials and new ideas and approaches to improve and develop dental materials. She received Rackham Block Grant Award for 2018-2020 and Rackham Travel Grant Awards for 2017-2020 from the University of Michigan – Rackham Graduate Studies.

Daghrery is an IADR-Saudi Arabian board member and serves as a member at large of the Dental Materials Group of IADR. Her current research interests include the development of multiphasic and tissue-specific scaffolds for periodontal tissue regeneration and designing of injectable drug delivery systems for ablating oral infections by applying the biofabrication, electrospinning, and 3D printing principles.

Now in its fifth year, the IADR Osteology Foundation New Investigator Award in Oral Tissue Regeneration is jointly sponsored by the IADR and the Osteology Foundation, with funding provided exclusively by the Osteology Foundation. Funding research into all aspects of oral tissue regeneration is a core task of the Osteology Foundation. Daghrery will receive up to $75,000.
