Promising Targeted Therapy for Pediatric Brain Cancer Discovered by Dana-Farber Researchers

The clinical trial involved seven pediatric patients with high-grade gliomas who exhibited alterations in PDGFRA, a genetic abnormality linked to the tumor’s aggressive behavior. Remarkably, the findings suggested that avapritinib was generally safe for this demographic. Furthermore, tumor reduction captured through advanced imaging techniques revealed a clinically meaningful response in three out of the seven patients.
