Sophia Antipolis, 20 August 2024: It’s not long before the global cardiology community converges in London for the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)’s annual gathering, unveiling the latest practice-changing science.
The ESC Press Conference Schedule is now available, detailing the nine press conferences that will take place from Thursday 29 August to Sunday 1 September, and can be accessed in person or online. Accredited journalists will also be able to access embargoed press materials in the digital press area from Thursday 22 August.
Join triallists and ESC spokespersons for eight press conferences on the Hot Lines – 38 major trials that answer clinically important questions and have the potential to transform patient care. This year’s Hot Line programme includes trials covering hypertension, atrial fibrillation, heart valve diseases, heart failure, coronary artery disease and digital health innovations. As well as press conferences, press releases will be available for every Hot Line trial.
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines, documents that collate the latest evidence to provide recommendations for healthcare professionals in their daily practice. Join us for a dedicated press conference on Saturday 31 August to hear from patients involved in ESC Guidelines, doctors who use them and those responsible for creating them.
Also not to be missed are eight press releases on novel results from the extensive abstract programme covering topics such as the impact of noise pollution on heart health, new virtual strategies to improve follow-up after cardiac procedures, the effects of smoking and recreational drugs, the benefits of long weekend sleeps and ways to improve women’s cardiovascular risk.
Professor Carlos Aguiar, Chair of the ESC Communication Committee, said: “Press activities at ESC Congress 2024 are designed to showcase cardiology’s latest advancements to help disseminate the best of our research to the world. Thank you for your support in helping share new ways to prevent cardiovascular disease and to reduce its impact on the lives of millions of people affected globally.”
