Matt Holzer, Associate Professor, Mathematical Sciences, is set to receive funding from the National Science Foundation for the project: “Dynamics of reaction-diffusion equations on networks and other spatially extended systems.”

Reaction-diffusion models involving the interplay between spatially organized interactions and homogeneous reaction dynamics arise in a wide range of applications in biology, ecology, physics, and engineering. The research will provide mathematical tools for the understanding of reaction-diffusion models involving networks of interacting agents and build rigorous computational tools for the study of fronts propagating into unstable states.

Holzer will receive $269,996 from NSF for this project. Funding will begin in July 2024 and will end in June 2027.
