BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — In the intricate dance of biology and evolution, iron emerges as a crucial player in the health of both humans and the pathogens that threaten their well-being. The significance of this essential mineral cannot be overstated, as it serves as a pivotal resource for cellular functions. This study hints at a critical intersection where interventions aimed at improving iron intake must account for the complexities of immune responses and infection risks.

The research conducted in Nigerian hospitals offers unique insight into these dynamics within a specific healthcare context.
