Scienmag is an independent science news platform dedicated to making scientific knowledge more accessible to the public through clear, accurate, and verifiable reporting. This Editorial Policy explains how we select, prepare, and publish content; how we use sources; and how we handle corrections, transparency, and editorial independence.
1) Mission and Scope
Our mission is to deliver timely and understandable science and technology news based on credible, publicly available information.
Scienmag may publish content in the following areas:
- Research-based science and technology news (medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, environment, AI, etc.)
- University and research institute announcements
- Press release–based science news
- Summaries and explainers based on peer-reviewed articles and scientific reports
- Scientific events, public science communication, and community updates
We aim to inform, not sensationalize. We avoid misleading claims and strive to present findings in a way that reflects the strength of the underlying evidence.
2) Sources and Attribution
Scienmag is committed to source transparency. Whenever possible, we clearly identify where information comes from and help readers reach the primary source.
2.1 Press Release–Based Content
Many of our articles are based on press releases and official announcements from universities, research institutions, scientific publishers, and trusted distribution services.
For press release–based articles, we aim to:
- Credit the originating institution or organization whenever possible
- Include the related peer-reviewed journal reference when available
- Provide identifiers and links (e.g., DOI, PubMed, publisher page) when accessible
Because press releases are distributed widely, different outlets may legitimately publish similar wording. This is a normal part of press release–driven science communication.
2.2 Research Articles and Reports
When a story relates to a scientific paper or report, we prioritize linking to authoritative sources such as:
- Peer-reviewed journal pages and publisher records
- DOI landing pages and scholarly databases (e.g., PubMed)
- Official institutional pages
- Governmental or public agency reports
In some cases, direct linking may not be possible due to paywalls, access restrictions, or source pages being moved. When that occurs, we still aim to provide clear reference details in the article.
3) Editorial Standards and Verification
Scienmag applies editorial review to ensure accuracy, clarity, and responsible reporting.
- We seek to reflect what the evidence supports, without exaggeration
- For health and medical topics, we apply higher scrutiny due to potential real-world impact
- When reporting on preprints or early-stage findings, we clearly distinguish them from peer-reviewed research
- We avoid misleading language such as “miracle cure,” “guaranteed solution,” or definitive claims unsupported by the underlying research
Our goal is to help readers understand both the findings and the limitations of the research.
4) Headlines, Language, and Presentation
We aim for headlines and summaries that accurately reflect the article content.
- Headlines should be informative, not clickbait
- Technical terms may be simplified for readability while preserving meaning
- Where needed, we provide context so that non-specialist readers can understand the significance of the work
- If an article includes editorial interpretation, we aim to keep it clearly separated from factual reporting
5) Content Creation and Copyright Approach
Scienmag publishes original reporting, curated news summaries, and press release–based articles. We respect intellectual property rights and do not aim to replace the original source.
- We prioritize summarization, contextualization, and clear attribution
- We avoid publishing full third-party text where it is not permitted
- Images and media are used according to licensing terms (e.g., licensed stock, public domain, or permitted reuse)
If a rights holder believes any content should be updated or removed, we welcome contact and will review requests promptly and fairly.
6) Corrections and Updates
We take accuracy seriously and maintain a clear correction process.
- Readers can report factual errors or missing information
- If a material error is confirmed, we correct it as soon as possible
- When appropriate, we add an update note to inform readers of significant changes
- If new information emerges (e.g., an official correction, retraction, or updated findings), we may update the article to reflect the latest verified record
To report an error, please include the article URL, the specific issue, and (if possible) supporting source information.
7) Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Scienmag maintains editorial independence.
- Advertising, sponsorship, or external partnerships do not control editorial decisions
- We do not accept third-party demands to alter factual reporting for commercial advantage
- When relevant, we aim to disclose potential conflicts of interest or commercial relationships that could affect interpretation
Our priority is the reader’s trust and the integrity of science communication.
8) Advertising and Revenue
Scienmag may display advertising to support ongoing operations. However:
- Ads do not determine what we publish or how we report it
- Sponsored content, if any, must be clearly labeled as such
- We aim to keep advertising practices transparent and non-deceptive
9) Community Standards (Comments and Conduct)
We support constructive discussion and evidence-based debate. We may moderate or remove content that includes:
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or targeted abuse
- Spam, coordinated manipulation, or repetitive disruptive posting
- Personal data disclosure or doxxing
Scientific disagreement is welcome when expressed respectfully and supported by evidence.
10) Brand and Affiliation Statement
Scienmag is an independent platform. We do not claim to be affiliated with or representing any other publication or organization unless explicitly stated.
In particular, Scienmag does not present itself as the official Science journal published by AAAS, and no such affiliation is claimed.
