Glenview, IL – The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) announced that the newest additions to the CHEST portfolio of journals, CHEST® Critical Care and CHEST® Pulmonary, received approval for indexation with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Glenview, IL – The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) announced that the newest additions to the CHEST portfolio of journals, CHEST® Critical Care and CHEST® Pulmonary, received approval for indexation with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Both launched in early 2023, CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary provide open access content in the fields of pulmonary and critical care medicine. The indexation is expected to increase the visibility, accessibility, usage, and impact of the open access scholarly research journals.

“Seeing our newer journals are indexed less than 1 year after their inaugural issues is an impressive accomplishment for their respective editorial boards,” said Peter Mazzone, MD, MPH, FCCP, Editor in Chief of the flagship journal CHEST®. “The success is, in large, attributed to Editors in Chief, Hayley Gershengorn, MD, (CHEST Critical Care) and Matthew Miles, MD, FCCP, (CHEST Pulmonary) who each established a strong standing for their journals.”

“The CHEST organization is incredibly proud of this accomplishment,” said Jenny Szabo, Chief Operations Officer of CHEST and Publisher of the journal portfolio. “This is the first of many steps the journals will take to establish themselves as leading publications for clinical research in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine and speaks to the level of content thus far.”

CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary accept submissions of original research and case series. Each features an enhanced emphasis on medical decision-making, implementation science, health services delivery, quality improvement, cost-effectiveness analysis, policy reports, study design and more.
