The International 2017 IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC-44)
Solar energy is globally one of the most important sustainable energy technologies at present with nearly 1.4 million solar installations in the United States alone. With such strong interest, it is our pleasure to publically announce the international 2017 IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC-44) taking place in the capital of the United States, Washington D.C from June 25th to June 30th, 2017 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
What is the IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference?
The IEEE PVSC continues in its 44th year as the preeminent conference dedicated to science and technology of solar cells. The Technical Program is divided into 12 areas covering cutting-edge developments in science and engineering of photovoltaics, ranging from fundamentals to applications, with an emphasis on material science, devices, systems, solar resources and policy related matters. The technical content of the conference includes 17 invited talks from world renowned experts in the PV community, over 300 oral presentations across our technical areas and finally over 650 poster presentations. The PVSC is a flagship conference of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) which organizes many specialized technical conference each year.
PVSC-44 has an international scope with approximately 1300 attendees from all over the world, working in industry, academia and government.
On Sunday, June 25th 2017, the results of the High School Program will be presented on Solar Day. Teams of high school students in the DC metro area that have participated in a solar design competition will be judged with the opportunity to win great prizes. Solar Day is a one-day public outreach event to raise awareness and applications of solar power to the local community. Solar Day will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in Salon 1 of the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel Ballroom located on the Lobby Level of the hotel.
The full Technical Program will kick off on Monday, June 26th with a Keynote Address from Dr. Charlie Gay, Solar Energy Technologies Office Director, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The conference will continue daily through Friday at noon.
