System-on-chip design: From system to transistor
A must-read for system and circuit designers, technologists and physicists from the World Scientific Advanced Series in Electrical and Computer Engineering
Credit: World Scientific
Today’s integrated silicon circuits and systems for wireless communications are of a huge complexity. The problem is currently tackled with design re-use of processors and custom design of hardware accelerators, mixed-signal, and analog circuits. It is therefore extremely important for system and circuit designers to understand the physical implications of system and circuit solutions based on hardware/software co-design as well as for technologists and physicists to cope with the system and circuit requirements in terms of power, speed, and data throughput.
Up to date, a book covering all the steps (from the system-level to the transistor-level) necessary to design, implement, and test a silicon system does not exist. Silicon Systems for Wireless LAN targets this empty space and bridges the gap between the system-world and the transistor-world (between system and circuit designers, technologists, and physicist).
Silicon Systems for Wireless LAN retails for US$148 / £130 (hardcover) and is also available in electronic formats. To order or know more about the book, visit http://www.
About the Editors
Dr. Zoran Stamenkovic is a scientist at IHP GmbH, Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. He acquired his PhD degree in electronic engineering from the University of Nis, Serbia in 1995. Dr. Stamenkovic has published more than 150 scientific book chapters, theses, journal papers and conference papers, and given more than 25 invited talks in the field of design and test of integrated circuits and systems. His research interests include hardware/software co-design, SOC design for wireless communications, fault-tolerant circuits and systems, and integrated circuit yield and reliability modelling. He serves as a program committee member of many scientific conferences (among them DDECS, IOLTS, EWDTS, DTIS, MIEL, and TELFOR). Dr. Stamenkovic was the general chair of DDECS15 and the program chair of DDECS18 and DDECS20. He is a regional editor of the Journal of Circuits, Systems, and Computers and a senior member of the IEEE.
Gildas Leger received his Ph.D. degree in microelectronics from the University of Seville, Spain, in 2007. Since 2008, he holds a position of Tenured Scientist for the Spanish National Science Council (CSIC) at the Microelectronics Institute of Seville (IMSE-CNM). His main research interests are focused on both Design and Test of AMS-RF circuits, with a particular emphasis on Space applications and Data Converters. He has repeatedly served as a member of the Program Committee for several important conferences in the field of integrated circuit testing, like DATE or ETS. As well, he has been Analog Topic Chair for ETS from 2016 to 2018, General Chair and Program Chair of the IMSTW workshop in 2017 and 2015, respectively.
Alberto Bosio is a full professor at INL – Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France. He acquired his PhD in computer engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2006. Dr. Bosio is co-author of 3 books, 56 international journal papers, 4 patents, 12 invited papers, 3 embedded tutorials and more than 140 papers in international conferences. His research interests include emerging computing paradigms, testing and diagnosis of digital integrated circuits and systems. He served as committee and organizing member in several international conferences as well as reviewers for many international journals. He is a member of the IEEE and the Chair of the European Test Technical Technology Council (eTTTC).
