Sun & Collaborators studying health outcomes of patients transferred between hospitals

Jiayang Sun, Department Chair, Statistics, Volgenau School of Engineering, received $28,422 as a subcontract from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) on a parent award from the National Institutes of Health for the project: “Identifying Electronic Phenotypes of Patients That Benefit From Air Medical Transport.” Sun will lead all statistical aspects of the work, including analysis and interpretation of study data for publication and presentation. She will also supervise the research assistants from Mason and CWRU, in collaboration with Principal Investigator Andrew Reimer, Assistant Professor at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at CWRU.

The researchers are investigating comprehensive factors relevant to hospital transfer outcomes to support the training and education of next-generation scientists.

Funding for this project began in September 2020 and will end in late June 2021.
