NIH welcomes new researchers to third annual BRAIN Initiative meeting
What: The NIH will host a meeting of nearly 1000 people who are part of the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative, a large-scale public and private effort to develop new tools and technologies to understand the healthy and diseased brain. The purpose of this open meeting is to discuss exciting scientific developments and potential new directions, and to identify areas for future collaborations and research coordination.
Who: Government-funded scientists from around the country, staff, and leadership from the federal agencies (NIH, NSF, DARPA, IARPA, FDA, DOE, and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy) involved in the BRAIN Initiative, plus representatives and investigators from participating non-federal organizations, and members of the media, public, and Congress. On Tuesday December 13, plenary sessions will highlight the clinical and ethical implications of the BRAIN Initiative and showcase the exciting technologies in development. There will also be smaller slide and poster presentations that attendees are welcome to attend.
When: The meeting will take place December 12-14, 2016, starting at 8:00 a.m. in the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, North Bethesda, MD 20852.
Why: BRAIN Initiative scientists are funded by multiple government agencies. This will be a unique opportunity to meet BRAIN Initiative scientists and learn about their promising research.
