Negotiations continue between DEAL and Wiley

0

Last week, Project DEAL representatives from the Alliance of Science Organizations in Germany and representatives of publishing house Wiley continued their negotiations on a future-oriented model for the publishing and reading of scientific literature. Afterwards, the spokesperson for the project steering committee, Prof Dr Horst Hippler, President of the German Rectors' Conference, and Dr Guido F. Herrmann, CEO of Wiley-VCH, spoke of a good atmosphere and constructive, focused talks.

They said that nevertheless, due to the complexity of the subject matter, the negotiations would still take some time. For this reason the two sides agreed on an interim solution for those institutions whose contracts end on 31 December 2017. The details of this solution will be agreed in the near future and those institutions will be informed directly.
