Nyon, Switzerland – November 23, 2015 Clinicians, researchers and leading musculoskeletal diseases experts from more than 60 countries will attend the much anticipated 2016 World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases.

As in past years, this annual event is expected to showcase more than 800 original research abstracts from across the field's clinical spectrum. Renowned global experts will lead a wide variety of sessions on the most current advances in research and clinical practice, including in the emerging fields of sarcopenia and frailty.

Professor Jean-Yves Reginster, Congress Co-chair and President of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), stated, "Given the growth in the ageing population worldwide, it is vital that we increase our knowledge of age-related muscle loss, bone and muscle strength, and their respective roles in maintaining function and mobility. The prevention and treatment of sarcopenia and frailty – which affect balance, falls and fracture risk as well as the overall ability to perform tasks of daily living – are therefore an important new focus of the annual WCO-IOF-ESCEO congresses."

The Congress programme will feature 10 Plenary Lectures, 5 Special Lectures, 15 Meet-the-Expert Sessions, 4 ESCEO Symposia, 15 Non-Sponsored Symposia, and 4 Industry-Sponsored Symposia. In addition, oral presentations of selected noteworthy abstracts will showcase the latest 'hot' new research.

WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2016 has been granted 15 European CME credits by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). EACCME credits can be converted to AMA credits.

"The Scientific Programme Committee has prepared a high-quality programme which presents exciting new research findings and the latest advances of relevance to clinical practice. The Congress offers an ideal opportunity to network with renowned experts and clinicians from around the world. And, as the largest and one of the mostly highly regarded clinical meetings in the world, it is a forum of choice for the presentation of new research findings," added Professor John A. Kanis, Congress Co-chair and President of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF).

> Abstracts, which will appear in a supplement issue of the leading journal 'Osteoporosis International', are accepted until the deadline of January 15, 2016.

To be held in Malaga, a major and easily accessible seaside city in southern Spain, the Congress is expected to attract more than 3200 delegates. Delegates will include endocrinologists, rheumatologists, orthopaedists, geriatricians, radiologists, internists, general practitioners, rehabilitation specialists and other allied health professionals.

> Delegates registering online before December 4, 2015 benefit from early-bird registration rates. To register online visit http://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/register
