January 27, 2023, New Orleans, Louisiana – Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) Director Joe W. Ramos has appointed Sven Davisson, CRA, to serve as Associate Director of Administration.

Since 2015, Davisson has served as Chief Administrative Officer for the LCRC. Founded in 2002, the LCRC is a partnership bringing together the cancer research efforts of Louisiana State University Health New Orleans, Tulane University School of Medicine, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Ochsner Health.

As the associate director of administration for the LCRC, Davisson will oversee implementation of strategic directives for the center and assist with program development. Other responsibilities will include tracking data and key metrics of the center, as well as oversight of shared resources, facilities management of the LCRC’s research building, grants management, and financial services.

Prior to joining the LCRC, Davisson previously spent 14 years at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), an NCI-designated cancer center in Bar Harbor, Maine. His work at JAX focused on research compliance and administration. His final position at JAX was as Senior Director of Sponsored Programs, overseeing the research portfolio and support staff of JAX’s two primary research campuses in Bar Harbor and West Hartford, Connecticut.

In his expanded role, Davisson will support the Director in ensuring that all cancer center activities meet National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant guidelines in order to achieve and maintain a National Cancer Institute (NCI) cancer center designation. During his time at JAX, Davisson assisted with the submission of two P30 Cancer Center Support Grant competitive renewals.

“Sven Davisson will play a key role in coordinating the many metrics and benchmarks that we are instituting at the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, as we expand our cancer research, prevention, and outreach throughout the State of Louisiana,” said Joe W. Ramos, PhD, CEO and director of the LCRC.

Davisson holds a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies from Hampshire College and is a certified research administrator.
