International Osteoporosis Foundation announces winners of 2022 Nutrition Awards

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) has announced the winners of the IOF Nutrition Awards, presented today on the occasion of the virtual World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases (Virtual WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2022).

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) has announced the winners of the IOF Nutrition Awards, presented today on the occasion of the virtual World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases (Virtual WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2022). 

The Awards, each comprising a grant of 1000 USD and a certificate, were presented to five young investigators from Australia, India, and Switzerland in recognition of their outstanding research abstracts in the field of nutrition and musculoskeletal health. 

Professor Nicholas Harvey, Chair of the IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors, stated:

“New insights into the role of various dietary factors and nutrients in musculoskeletal health and disease may lead to important clinical advances or future preventative strategies. We thank the winners of the IOF Nutrition Awards for their excellent contributions and encourage them to continue their valuable research in the field of musculoskeletal health.”

IOF promotes global awareness of bone-healthy nutrition and research advances in the bone and nutrition field through a number of projects and programs within the framework of the IOF Calcium and Nutrition Initiative. These include the IOF Vitamin D Map and Infographic, IOF calcium calculator, facts sheets and brochures, webinars for healthcare professionals, and regular social media and World Osteoporosis Day outreach to improve public and patient knowledge related to calcium, vitamin D, and other bone-healthy nutrients.
