ROCKVILLE, MD – Biophysical Reports, the new fully Gold Open Access journal offered by the Biophysical Society (BPS), is now accepting submissions. The newest addition to the BPS’s family of journals will feature short contributions (Letters and Reports) with rapid turnarounds as well as Research Articles and Reviews.

The new journal provides another option for BPS members and others to publish their work, particularly those who are mandated to publish in open access journals. Research will be considered from all disciplines encompassed by biophysics, with a particular emphasis on methods and techniques for biophysical research, as well as concepts and ideas that present major conceptual advances or represent new views on existing data and results. The journal is committed to rapid publication of articles that are written for specialists as well as those written for the broader biophysics community.

The inaugural Editor-in-Chief of the journal is Jörg Enderlein, physics professor and Executive Director of the Third Institute of Physics (Biophysics) of the Georg-August-Universität at Göttingen, Germany. Enderlein said he is “extremely honored to be selected Editor-in-Chief. I see significant potential for the new journal, which should offer transparent and rapid reviewing and editorial decisions with a specific understanding of the peculiarities and importance of biophysical research.”

Enderlein is joined on the editorial board by a highly respected and diverse group of Associate Editors who will carry on the Society’s tradition of fair and thorough peer review:

  • Yuval Ebenstein, Tel-Aviv University, Israel;
  • Ulrike Endesfelder, Carnegie Mellon University, USA;
  • Steve Granick, Center for Soft and Living Matter, South Korea;
  • Hagen Hofmann, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel;
  • Andrey Klymchenko, University of Strasbourg, France;
  • Dmitrii E. Makarov, University of Texas at Austin, USA;
  • Aleksandra Radenovic, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland;
  • Alexandra Ros, Arizona State University, USA;
  • Paul Schanda, IST Austria, Austria;
  • Erdinc Sezgin, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden;
  • Yoav Shechtman, Technion, Israel; and
  • Sharon Grayer Wolf, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.

BPS is pleased to offer this new venue for authors looking for a fully open access journal in which to publish their latest work.
