An international competitive programming boot camp in Barcelona

From Sept. 27 to Oct. 5, a competitive programming boot camp is bringing students from all over the world to Barcelona. It is set to prepare them for the prestigious ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, ICPC. The event is organized by MIPT's Laboratory for IT Education Development in collaboration with Harbour.Space University with the support of Sberbank of Russia.

"The Russian school of competitive programming is one of the best, and Russian IT education has built a strong brand recognized abroad," says Alexey Maleyev, who heads the Laboratory for IT Education Development. "Harbour.Space University showcases Russian IT education standards for the international audience by making extensive use of our teaching methods and attracting the world's leading professors. It is a convenient programming hub that is within reach of students not just from Europe but, say, from South America."

Moscow Workshops ACM-ICPC is a project launched by the Laboratory for IT Education Development to run international boot camps in competitive programming. During these events, students from across the globe tackle algorithmic problems and soak in the ACM-ICPC atmosphere. They are coached by the winners and finalists of recent competitions. Thanks to the boot camp formula, trips and time for the participants to get to know like-minded people from other countries and establish professional ties can be fitted into the schedule, in addition to rigorous training, which features seminars, lectures, and training competitions. This combination helps mold the international IT community of the next generation.

The boot camp in Barcelona will feature 50 top teams from the U.S., Russia, Sweden, and other countries, as well as recent ACM-ICPC winners and runners-up serving as coaches. Among them are programmers from ITMO University — the school that has been consistently taking top places in the competition for the last several years. This year the team from TU Munich joins the training camp for the first time.
